Woodland Hills Stabbing Leaves One Dead

WOODLAND HILLS—On July 30, the body of a man was discovered in the bushes near the intersection of West Oxnard Street and Winnetka Avenue. First responders from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) arrived at approximately 7:00 a.m.

The victim described only as being a 40-year-old male was found with multiple stab wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.

Traffic was shut down in the southbound lanes of Winnetka Avenue between Oxnard Street and Hatteras Street for an undetermined amount of time while homicide detectives investigated the area.

Reports indicate that ABC 7 was hovering above. They were able to capture aerial footage of the perimeter officers had taped off during the investigation.

Sherman Oaks Domestic Violence Case Turns Deadly

SHERMAN OAKS—On Thursday, June 20, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department, West Valley Division responded to a radio call of domestic violence between a man and a woman in the 6700 block of Etiwanda Avenue. Reports indicate a couple at the Villa Tarzana condominiums, were fighting. Soon after officers arrived the fight became deadly.

According to an LAPD press release, a woman who answered the door, was the wife, and batter victim, of her husband, later identified as 45-year-old, Marlon Jimenez. The victim admitted to police that they had a history of domestic violence. She then escorted officers into the bedroom where the suspect was.

Responding officers were explaining to the Jimenez what they were doing there, and that they would be handcuffing him. That is when he pulled a knife out of the waistband of his pants and barricaded himself in his bedroom.

Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) and the LASD Crisis Negotiations Team (C.N.I.) responded to the call. According to reports, team members were attempting to get the agitated suspend to comply when they entered the room and found him dead. He had a ligature around his neck that was tied to the bed frame and a loaded 9mm pistol at his side.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner investigated the crime scene and confirmed the death of Marlon Jimenez. No officers were injured during the incident. The only reported injuries were those of the victim who had been assaulted by the suspect before committing suicide with the victim and the police on the premises.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Locator, Jimenez had an extensive criminal history. There were 22 entries on this individual. He was in jail over a reported misdemeanor in 2023. He was on probation.

In 2022, Jimenez was booked into jail on a felony and bonded out.

Decomposed Body Discovered on Embankment in Studio City

STUDIO CITY—On Tuesday, June 19, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a call from dispatch of what responding officers reportedly referred to as, “A death in plain view.” A decomposed body was discovered near the 101 Freeway on the embankment area near Moorpark Street, in Studio City approximately 133 yards below the wash not far from Laurel Canyon.

First reports indicate that the body was found in a makeshift shelter and that no cause of death could be determined. The investigators from California Highway Patrol concluded that there was no evidence of foul play.

There is no information regarding the deceased as the individual was in the advanced stages of decomposition. Responding officers indicated the death occurred at least two months ago. The body had decayed beyond recognition leaving police with no physical description to report.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office now has custody of the body and has now taken over the investigation.

Shooting Transpires Between Neighbors In Hollywood Hills

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On December 5, just before 11 a.m., an argument between neighbors escalated into a shooting. The Los Angeles Police Department reported they answered a call for shots fired east of Runyan Canyon in the 2200 block of Chelan. Reports indicate that there was one person shot who was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is currently listed in stable condition.

ABC 7 first reported that the shooting came about after one neighbor entered the home of the other neighbor and refused to leave the premises.

According to a social media post on X by a LAPD Public Information Officer, as of 3:43 p.m., “There are no suspects outstanding, no threat to the public, and no evacuations in the area.” No arrests have been made at this time.
